Ukraine's President Calls for Rapid NATO Accession

  • UKRAINE

Kyiv, June 15 (QNA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called to speed up his country's accession to NATO, against the backdrop of the Russian war.
In a televised address, Zelenskyy considered that Ukraine's accession to NATO will strengthen the Alliance, noting that he had spoken with Polish President Andrzej Duda about the planned NATO summit in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius next July, and preparations for the reconstruction conference of Ukraine in London.
He again criticized the lack of enforcement of sanctions against Russia, saying that if the sanctions are applied consistently, Russia will no longer be able to shoot Ukraine.
On Feb 24, 2022, Russia launched what it called a special military operation in Ukraine which continues to date, and with no signs of its end anytime soon, despite widespread international condemnation and unprecedented sanctions imposed on Moscow by the United States and many more countries.
