Sudan Civil Aviation Authority Extends Airspace Closure Until June 30

  • QATAR

Khartoum, June 15 (QNA) - Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) on Thursday announced extending the closure of Sudanese airspace until June 30.

Humanitarian aid flights and evacuation flights that obtain permits are exempted, SCAA said in a statement without giving more details.

This extension is the fifth to be announced by the SCAA, after previous extensions that took place on May 13 and 31, and April 30 and 22, all of which excluded humanitarian and evacuation flights.

Widespread clashes erupted, on April 15, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, leaving hundreds dead and thousands wounded among civilians, in addition to the displacement of thousands internally and externally, according to the United Nations.
