Qatar Charity Launches 'Labbeh' Initiative to Support Water Projects

Doha, June 20 (QNA) - Qatar Charity announced Tuesday the launch of 'Labbeh' initiative, to support water and sanitation projects in three African countries suffering from drought, with an estimated value of QR 20 million, and it is expected that about 160,000 people will benefit from it.

The five-day campaign will begin Friday on social media platforms, with the participation of several influencers in society, social media influencers, artists, and photographers to create a challenge in an innovative way in order to urge the community to donate and take advantage of the reward in these blessed days, especially on the day of Arafa to reach the largest number of beneficiaries and collect the target amount of the initiative.

Within the framework of the initiative, two teams were formed to participate in the challenge, whereby members of each team will travel to Djibouti to find out which areas are most in need of projects, while the rest of the members of the two teams will compete inside Qatar.

The initiative aims to implement several projects in the field of water, represented in drilling and equipping 35 deep and surface wells, 12 of which are powered by solar energy, in addition to building and equipping two integrated water stations in Ghana, equipping two desalination and water purification plants, extending, and connecting 40 water networks to homes, digging two deep wells, and 40 surface well in Djibouti.

In Somalia, it also aims to drill and equip eighty surface wells and 13 deep wells. (QNA)
