Polling Stations Open for Central Municipal Council Elections
Doha, June 22 (QNA) - Polling stations opened their doors at all electoral district headquarters to male and female voters at 8:00 am on Thursday to cast their votes to elect their representatives in the 7th Central Municipal Council (CMC), the last stage of the electoral process.
The polling process will continue until 5:00 pm, followed by the process of vote counting and the announcement of the winners of the elections.
According to final candidates' lists, 102 candidates, including 4 women, are competing in these elections in 27 constituencies out of 29, after two constituencies were decided by acclamation, namely 27 and 28.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Wednesday urged citizens to exercise their voting rights to elect members of the 7th Central Municipal Council, after it completed all technical preparations to receive voters to cast their votes in these elections in an atmosphere of freedom, integrity and transparency.
The first municipal election in the State of Qatar were held in 1999, and it continued for six previous sessions. (QNA)
