7th CMC Elections Winners Announced

Doha, June 22 (QNA) - The Supervisory Committee for the 7th Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections, has announced the winning candidates in the elections that took place Thursday.

Chairman of the Supervisory Committee, Major General Majid Ibrahim Al Khulaifi announced the names of winners in the 29 constituencies.

Director of Elections Department under the Ministry of Interior Major-General Majed Ibrahim Al Khulaifi, who is also Chairman of the Supervisory Committee overseeing the 7th Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections said that total number of registered citizens in the voter register was 34,527, comprising both male and female voters. Meanwhile, the total number of candidates running for membership in the Central Municipal Council was 102, including four female candidates.

He added that the voting process took place in 27 electoral constituencies, and the candidates in the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth constituencies were elected unopposed.

Major-General Al Khulaifi noted that 40.7% of the voters cast their votes in the elections.

The supervisory committee expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Judiciary Council, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Municipality, and various media organizations. The committee also extends its gratitude to the voters, candidates, and all those who contributed to the electoral process, whether in an official or voluntary capacity.

Major-General Al Khulaifi congratulated the winners and wished them well in their role and further progress and prosperity for the country. (QNA)
