Ministry of Environment, Mitsubishi Research Institute Sign Declaration on Carbon Credits Plan

Doha, July 18 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change signed today a joint declaration for the advisory study project for the carbon credits plan in the State of Qatar with the Mitsubishi Research Institute.

This came on the sidelines of the reception organized by the Japanese Embassy in Doha for the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, and his accompanying delegation.

The announcement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change by Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs Eng. Ahmed Mohamed Al Sada, and on behalf of the Mitsubishi Research Institute by President of the Board of Directors of the Institute Takashi Morisaki.

This project comes in the context of the efforts of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to study possible options, to enhance what was established by the provisions of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, on appropriate systems for the exchange of carbon credits, and to achieve the goals of reducing emissions that the countries of the world seek to adhere to under the specified contributions. nationally, whether through international cooperation or other relevant approaches.

The project for the carbon credits plan in the State of Qatar contributes to achieving the goals of the National Action Plan for Climate Change and the nationally determined contributions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent by 2030, compared to trend emissions at the same year, making it one of the most ambitious goals in the region.
