New York, August 02 (QNA) - The United Nations said that more than half of the oil on the deteriorating Safer tanker off Yemen has been transferred.

The UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen David Gressly explained that more than half of the oil on the deteriorating Safer tanker has been transferred to a new tanker in the past seven days.

He added that the United Nations thanks the financial contributors, technical experts and Yemeni partners for reaching this stage.

The United Nations announced on July 25 the start of an operational plan to transfer oil from the FSO Safer off Yemen's coast into the replacement vessel (Nautica). (QNA)
