Doha, August 09 (QNA) - Al Rayyan Club announced, on Wednesday, the signing of Brazilian footballer Roger Guedes from Brazil's Corinthians to join the first football team of the new 2023-2024 season.

Guedes, who plays as a forward, is the third Brazilian to join the team. He will support the front line, accompanied by Moroccan Sofiane Boufal, Spaniard Rodrigo Moreno and Brazilian Gabriel Pereira.

The 26-year-old footballer started his career with Criciuma, then moved to Palmeiras and later joined Atletico Mineiro.

He was loaned to Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng Taishan in 2018.

Guedes signed with Corinthian in 2021 and played for two seasons before joining Qatar's Al Rayyan Club.

This deal is the fourth for Al Rayyan after it signed with Spaniard Rodrigo Moreno from Leeds United, Brazilians Gabriel Pereira from New York City Club and Thiago Mendes from Lyon, while the team retained Moroccan Sofiane Boufal and Japanese Shogo Taniguchi.

Al Rayyan concluded Tuesday, a training camp in Austria that began on July 17 in preparation for the Qatar Stars League.

During the camp, the team played six friendly matches against Hungary's Honved, Saudi's Al Fayha, Austria's Korneuburg, UAE's Al Wasl and the first and second teams of Italy's Udinese.

Al Rayyan will kick off its Qatar Stars League journey against Al Markhiya on Aug. 17 in Al Janoub Stadium.
