Doha, August 15 (QNA) - Qatar's table tennis player Mohammed Abdul Wahab is aspiring to qualify for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and represent the country in it.

Abdul Wahab said that reaching the Olympics is a long dream for which he has been striving and will not give it up regardless of the difficulties and sacrifices.

Abdul Wahab hoped to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, but he was young at the time and lacked the experience which prevented him from qualifying for the playoffs.

The 24-year-old table tennis player was recently crowned the Arab champion in men's singles after defeating Jordan's Ziad Aziz (3-1) in the finals of the 17th Arab Table Tennis Championship in Sulaymaniyah.

Abdul Wahhab continues his intensive training to prepare for the upcoming competitions as he is going to participate in the 2023 Asian Table Tennis Championships in early September, the 2022 Asian Games in the same month, and the 2023 WTT Star Contender Doha.

Abdul Wahhab, who graduated from Aspire Academy in 2017, said that the academy played a major role in his career as a table tennis player. He joined the academy at the age of 12 and stayed even after graduating for three more years.

Throughout these years, Aspire Academy gave him great support which helped him win the Arab champion title, he added.

Abdul Wahhab, who contributed to Qatar SC winning the Amir's Table Tennis Cup for the sixth time in a row, stressed that hard work and continuous training are the best way for a player to achieve their dreams.

He explained that in the past two months, the training increased and intensified in order to achieve the goal set of winning medals for Qatar.

Abdul Wahhab said that he was fortunate enough to achieve many things while he was a student at Aspire Academy, but winning the title of Arab champion was his childhood dream.
