Washington, September 06 (QNA) - Video calling and online meeting platform "Zoom" announced new artificial intelligence (AI) features that will be available to users during the coming period.

The platform changed the name of the AI assistant to AI Companion instead of Zoom IQ and relied on generative AI models from various companies such as Meta, Anthropic, and OpenAI.

The role of the AI Companion has been expanded to include chat, email, and whiteboard, and users will be able to have conversations with it in a ChatGPT bot-like manner by spring 2024.

Zoom AI Companion will provide the ability to ask questions and receive answers based on written meetings, chats, whiteboards, emails, documents, and even third-party applications.

Users will also be able to ask questions during the meeting to follow up on key points, create and submit support tickets, as well as summarize meetings and identify action items and next steps in the project early next year.

The AI Companion will provide real-time feedback on people's performance in meetings, provide training on communication and presentation skills, and additional options to schedule meetings, generate images in Whiteboard, summarize conversations, and suggestions to help complete sentences with the help of AI.

It is expected that some of these features will be available in the next few weeks and others will be postponed until the beginning of 2024, noting that the Zoom platform will give users the ability to activate or disable these features according to their preferences. (QNA)
