Mies (Switzerland), September 16 (QNA) - In a new accomplishment for Qatari sports, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced appointing Qatar Basketball Federation Secretary General Saadoun Al Kuwari as FIBA Central Board member.

Al Kuwari was chosen to be a FIBA Central Board member for FIBA 3x3 competitions, and will serve in his post for a period of 4 years, for the 2024-2027 period.

FIBA Secretary-General Andreas Zagklis considered that choosing Al Kuwari reflects the great administrative experience enjoyed by Qatari cadres.

In a press statement, Zagklis said that Al Kuwari is one of the distinguished competencies capable of making an addition to the Central Board for 3x3 Competitions.

He added that the Board includes an elite group of basketball experts, and aims to develop 3x3 competitions at all levels.

This is the first time that a Qatari basketball official has received this important honor of being selected by the FIBA Central Board.

Recently, FIBA appointed HE Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al-Thani and President of the Qatar Basketball Federation Mohammed Saad Al Mughaiseeb, to the membership in the Board of Directors of the FIBA Foundation. (QNA)
