Ankara, September 17 (QNA) - Turkish gendarmerie forces arrested 94 illegal immigrants in the western province of Canakkale.
The Turkish Coast Guard said in a statement that gendarmerie forces stopped two trucks in the district of Arslanbey and arrested 94 immigrants on board. The gendarmerie also arrested a person suspected of smuggling immigrants.
The statement added that the immigrants were transferred to the Ayvacik deportation center in the Canakkale province.
The Turkish-Bulgarian, Turkish-Greek borders, and Turkish shores are witnessing an increase in the number of illegal immigrants who take the land or sea route in the hope of reaching one of the European countries. (QNA)
