Doha, September 20 (QNA) - The Urology Department at Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital (HMGH) at Hamad Medical Corporation, has gained accreditation from the American North Carolina Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as an outstanding surgical department in the treatment of urinary stones.

This accreditation aims to evaluate surgical departments using standards of safety, competence, effectiveness, and patient care quality. This prestigious accreditation is one of the programs of the North Carolina Surgical Review Corporation and is considered the best in its category for medical professionals, surgeons, hospitals, and independent outpatient clinics worldwide.

Chief Medical Officer at HMC Dr. Abdullah Al Ansari stated that HMC utilizes the most advanced specialized medical technologies in its various surgical departments as part of its commitment to providing the best levels of medical care for patients and visitors.

He added that the expansion of hospital capacity and the enhancement of the quality of care provided have contributed to the development of surgical services at HMC, where thousands of diverse surgical procedures have been performed, achieving success rates that rival global averages in this field.

"Patients and visitors now benefit from the availability of the best diagnostic tools and advanced treatment methods in Qatar, where the state has invested extensively in modern medical technology over the past few years, with notable success." Al Ansari added.

Dr. Abdullah Al Ansari also highlighted the application of international standards, the availability of surgical staff and expertise, and the use of advanced medical technologies in delivering healthcare to HMC patients, as a leading healthcare institution in the region.

Medical Director at HMGH Dr. Ahmad Al Mohammad said, "We welcome and are proud of the Urology Department's accreditation as a distinguished surgical center for the treatment of urinary stones.

This accreditation will enhance the hospital's medical reputation internationally. The accreditation of one of the hospital's departments with this prestigious recognition is a professional achievement that reflects the competence of the Urology Department." "We obtained this accreditation for a duration of 3 years after evaluating 1367 surgical procedures conducted over 15 months in urinary stones.

The results of these operations were monitored, and safety, competence, and effectiveness standards were applied. This accreditation is evidence of the efforts made by the Urology Department to enhance patient safety and ensure the best healthcare for them after undergoing urinary stone surgeries," said Chief Consultant of Urology and Head of Surgery Departments at HMGH Dr. Morshed Ali Salah.

The Urology Department at HMGH completed 4,086 surgical procedures between July 2019 and August 2023, including 1441 surgeries in 2022 and 1165 surgeries from the beginning of 2023 until the end of August.

The American North Carolina Surgical Review Corporation granted accreditation to Dr. Morshed Ali Salah as a surgical professor, and several other doctors working in the Urology Department received accreditation as distinguished surgical doctors from the organization.

These accreditations serve as evidence of the Urology Department's competence in applying the highest international standards and achieving effectiveness and efficiency in the treatment of urinary stone patients. (QNA)
