Hangzhou, September 27 (QNA) - Qatari sport shooter Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah expressed his happiness at winning the silver medal with the skeet team, as well as the bronze medal at the single skeet shooting competition of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou Al Attiyah said in press statements after his coronation ceremony, that although he hoped to win the gold, he was completely satisfied with the bronze achievement, noting the strength of opponent Kuwaiti Abdullah Al Rashidi who achieved the gold medal.
He added that what the Qatar shooting team managed to achieve in the 19th Asian Games was a great accomplishment on its own as they competed with the best athletes on the continent. Pointing out that what makes winning the medals in the Asian Games so special, is that they remain in the classification for four years until the next session is held.
Al Attiyah's next goal is to qualify for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. He considers his performance in the Asian Games as an incentive to achieve the qualification and to further push himself during the coming period as he will partake in many local, regional and international shooting competitions.
He attributed his medal win to the support of officials in the Qatar Olympic Committee. Adding that supporting shooting and all other sports will increase continental and international achievements, as well as enhance Qatari aspirations at the Olympic level.
Al Attiyah won the bronze medal in the men's skeet shooting competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. (QNA)
