Doha, October 02 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha Eng. Mohammed Ali Al Khouri stressed that the current edition will be the most distinctive and comprehensive of all the Expo's editions.

In press remarks on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Expo on Monday, Al Khouri said that the current edition of the exhibition seeks to find innovative solutions to all challenges and turn them into opportunities to increase agricultural areas using modern technologies, reduce water consumption, and at the same time preserve natural resources.

He added that the exhibition is a unique event as it is being held for the first time in a country with a desert climate with objectives that extend to enhancing awareness of agriculture and environmental protection, expressing his hope to launch initiatives that contribute effectively to overcoming the difficulties facing the agricultural sector and expanding it, especially in the Gulf region.

The Secretary-General of the Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha stressed that the State of Qatar has prepared for an edition that will be the best in the history of the Expo since its launch in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 1960, pointing out that the axes of the current edition of the exhibition are characterized by being more comprehensive and related to the paths of the environment, sustainability, and innovation. In this context, he pointed out that all exhibition buildings are sustainable and environmentally friendly, using recycled materials.

He noted that the axes of Expo 2023 Doha are compatible with the global requirements of agriculture, expressing his aspiration that Expo 2023 Doha will contribute to reducing the costs of irrigation and agriculture and making road maintenance and beautification, especially those that extend for tens of kilometers, less costly.

Eng. Mohammed Ali Al Khouri called on all concerned authorities in the country and participating in the exhibition to join hands and make efforts to make this global event a success and achieve maximum benefit, pointing out that the doors are open to everyone who wishes to participate.

He stressed that Qatar's identity was present in the exhibition, just as it was strongly present in all the major events and forums that the country hosted over the years.
