Washington, October 09 (QNA) - Apple has announced the inclusion of Qualcomm's X70 modem chip in its new phones across various models, including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

According to the company, the X70 modem chip offers various improvements compared to the previous X65 chip. The chip provides faster performance for 5G networks and maintains a strong signal over long distances. It also offers potential battery life enhancements through integration with the A17 Pro chip.

The company has also stated that it is currently developing an in-house modem chip for the iPhone to reduce its reliance on Qualcomm. Additionally, Apple is working on its own microLED displays.

Starting now, Apple is sourcing LTPO OLED screens from Samsung.

Apple began this trend with the launch of Apple Silicon, gradually moving away from Intel-based chips in its lineup of Mac devices and adopting its specially designed processors for those devices.

Currently, almost the entire Mac lineup has transitioned from Intel-based chips to M-series processors. In addition to this, the company is also developing its own microLED displays.

The company has indicated that it plans to start using microLED screens in 2025 with the launch of the new model of its smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra. The display technology will gradually transition to iPhone, iPad, and even Mac devices.
