Washington, October 25 (QNA) WhatsApp the world's most popular messaging app dropped support for Android 4.4, otherwise known as KitKat, in its latest app version.

Users of Android KitKat devices will not be able to continue using the app after the last update and will have to upgrade their devices or the operating system if this is a possible option now.

The decision is focusing on WhatsApp's compatibility with modern operating systems, since the current market share of Android 4.4 KitKat represents only 0.5% of the total Android devices globally.

Technical companies prefer to allocate resources towards developing products with newer versions of the operating system for a wider range of users, rather than supporting outdated operating systems.

Meta is working to improve WhatsApp interface and periodically add several new features as well as enhance security features.
