Qatar Team Wins 5 Medals at Arab Swimming Championship

Abu Dhabi, October 27 (QNA) - Qatar swimming team won 5 medals on Friday in the Arab Swimming Championship, which began in the UAE and continues until Monday.

Medals won by Qatar on the first day of the competitions were one gold, two silver and two bronze.

Tamim Mohammed won the gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly race and the bronze medal in the 50-meter backstroke race. Mohammed Mahmoud won the silver medal in the 200-meter medley race, and Abdullah Al Khalidi also won the silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke race, while Mohammed Jilani won the bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly race.

140 male and female swimmers from 16 Arab countries are participating in the tournament: Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Djibouti, Mauritania, Morocco, and Iraq.

The Qatari team is represented by 8 swimmers: Abdullah Al Khalidi, Mohammed Mahmoud, Tamim Mohammed, Hamza Shaalan, Ahmed Dhiyab, Abdullah Al Ghamri, Mohammed Jilani, and Saif Al Burshid. (QNA)
