Israeli Occupation's Aggression in October Leaves 144 Martyrs in West Bank
Occupied Al Quds, November 03 (QNA) - The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced an increase in the toll of martyrs and casualties due to the ongoing Israeli aggression in the West Bank, reaching 144 martyrs and more than 2200 injuries.
The Ministry clarified in a statement today that the Turkish Friendship Hospital ceased operations due to bombardment and fuel depletion. Notably, it was the sole hospital for cancer patients. They highlighted that 16 out of 35 hospitals in Gaza stopped operations due to Israeli airstrikes and fuel shortages.
Doctors are still compelled to perform surgical procedures without anesthesia, and the occupation authorities continue to prohibit patients from leaving Gaza for treatment in Jerusalem hospitals or within the 1948 territories. This includes about 2000 cancer patients.
Up until last Oct. 29, nearly 1950 Palestinians, including at least 1050 children, were reported missing, possibly trapped or martyred under the rubble, waiting to be recovered.
The Health Ministry said that the Civil Defense raised the issue of decomposing bodies under collapsed buildings amid limited rescue tasks, raising humanitarian and environmental concerns. Humanitarian agencies and their staff faced significant constraints in providing humanitarian aid due to the ongoing aggression, movement restrictions, electricity, fuel, water shortages, and medicine scarcities.
The Ministry added that 117,000 displaced persons alongside medical and health crews and thousands of patients are residing in health facilities. Approximately 1.5 million citizens are internally displaced in Gaza, where about 690,000 citizens live in 149 emergency shelters provided by UNRWA.
The Ministry revealed that about 35,000 housing units suffered complete destruction, 165,000 units experienced partial destruction, 15 health facilities and 51 primary health clinics were damaged.
Moreover, 221 schools were destroyed, with 38 completely destroyed, and 42 UNRWA facilities were affected, including shelters for the displaced. Additionally, 7 churches and 11 mosques were damaged due to the airstrikes.
130 attacks on the healthcare sector were documented, resulting in the martyrdom of 135 healthcare workers and injuring over 120. Fifty ambulances were affected, with 28 rendered completely inoperable.
On the ground today, a Palestinian youth was martyred in the village of Bidras west of Ramallah, and another was injured in the village of Osarin, south of Nablus, due to live ammunition fired by Israeli occupation forces.
Local Palestinian sources reported that Israeli forces fired live rounds at a Palestinian youth as he exited the mosque after Friday prayers, hitting him in the chest. He was rushed to the emergency center in the nearby town of Nalin, his condition described as critical, later announcing his martyrdom.
Another youth was injured by gunfire during confrontations with Israeli occupation forces that erupted in the village of Osarin, south of Nablus. Additionally, Israeli forces arrested a journalist from the Wadi Al Joz neighborhood in Jerusalem. (QNA)
