Doha, November 20 (QNA) - The Local Organizing Committee of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qatar announced the allocation of ticket sales proceeds to support relief efforts for the Palestinian people, who are facing a critical crisis requiring various forms of necessary support.

HE Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani emphasized the importance of solidarity with the Palestinian people and providing support and assistance to them.

His Excellency stated that in the current circumstances and the difficult situation faced by the Palestinian brothers, the Local Organizing Committee decided to allocate the proceeds from the ticket sales of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qatar to support relief efforts, in collaboration with the relevant partners.

He pointed out that the initiative aims to underscore the significant role football plays in social responsibility, contributing actively beyond the football field. He added that the initiative reflects the belief in the power of football and its impact on communities, especially during crises when the need for assistance intensifies.

The proceeds will be dedicated to providing various essential needs, including food and medical supplies, in collaboration with relevant authorities.

Qatar is preparing to host the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 for the third time, having previously organized the 1988 and 2011 editions. Twenty-four teams from the best in Asia are set to compete for the championship, with 51 matches taking place across nine stadiums from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10, 2024. (QNA)
