Doha, November 28 (QNA) - The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has obtained ISO 50001:2018 certification for its Energy Management System, awarded by Alcumus ISOQAR Limited, one of the leading conformity assessment bodies worldwide, accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

On this occasion, Vice President for Shared Services Affairs Eman Al Mohannadi expressed her pride in the valued and dedicated efforts and cooperation of teams across various CCQ departments, through which the Facilities and General Services Department obtained this certification by reaching the highest international standards in efficient energy management.

This was accomplished by optimizing energy usage and reducing electricity bills across CCQ campuses. She also pointed out that it took the CCQ four months to obtain this certification, which will last for the next three years. The certification will be audited after one year of implementing the awarding company's standards, which will be evident through the monthly electricity and water bills.

She added that ISO 50001:2018 certification is an international standard specifically for Energy Management Systems (EMSs).

Obtaining this certification contributes to the implementation of Qatar National Vision 2030 by reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint, reducing costs through the promotion of sustainable energy use, and saving significant amounts of money spent on electricity bills. Moreover, it enhances CCQ's reputation, as a national higher education institution that adheres to international standards.

She emphasized that the Facilities and General Services Department is also working diligently to obtain ISO 45001:2018 certification for the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

The application of this standard aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, carbon dioxide emissions, and other related environmental impacts.

ISO 50001 provides a framework for companies and organizations to manage energy, establish the necessary systems and processes to improve its performance, efficiency, and consumption, according to globally recognized quality standards.
