Doha, December 06 (QNA) - Chairman of the Hosting Committee of the 2023 World Arabian Horse Championship (WAHC) and General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti asserted that WAHC, which will kick off in Qatar on Thursday for the first time in 42 years out of France, would be exceptional and will showcase the best horses in the world.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Chairman of the Hosting Committee of 2023 WAHC and the General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) said that organizing the championship in Doha affirms Qatar's aspiration to achieve leadership and brilliance in the region, the Middle East, and the world in all fields, including cultural and sports. It also confirms that Qatar has a prominent and significant position among world countries in equestrian sports.
He added that the 2023 WAHC would be an exceptional championship, especially since it is being held in an Arab country for the first time.
Al Sulaiti noted that the Organizing Committee wrapped up its preparations for organizing the championship that will kick off on Thursday and last until Saturday, with a large participation from outside the country, with 150 horses representing 21 world countries.
He added that Qatar would organize the 2023 and 2025 editions of WAHC. He considered the move of that event to Doha to represent a quantum leap in the world of equestrianism, affirming Qatar's celebration of Arabian horses and the integral part they represent in the ancient Arab culture.
He indicated that the tournament would be held in the Old Doha Port over three consecutive days in partnership between Katara and France Centre National des Expositions et Concours Agricoles (CENECA) as this partnership confirms Qatar's firm commitment to achieving excellence and uniqueness on the global stage.
Al Sulaiti concluded his remarks to QNA saying that the WAHC received great interest from various countries around the world with the participation of the best horses with high rankings in international competitions.
