New Innovation Enhances Feeling of Fullness
Washington, December 26 (QNA) - A team of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States of America has developed a new technology which tricks the stomach into thinking it is full.
The new technology is a tiny ingestible capsule that emits vibrations causing the person to feel full.
The researchers said that these capsules activate the same signals that reach the brain, which consequently gives the human an illusive feeling of fullness.
As part of the study, the research team gave some animals the capsule 20 minutes before eating, and found out that the capsule releases hormones causing a feeling of fullness and reduces by 40 percent the size of the animal's meal.
Researcher Shriya Srinivasan,a bioengineering specialist at the institute, claimed that this capsule may be useful for those seeking to lose weight or control their appetite.
She added that it is an interesting innovation as it provides the option of weight loss with a minimum of side effects compared with other means of treatment.
The researchers believe that this capsule might be a solution with minimal external interference to deal with obesity. (QNA)
