Mogadishu, January 03 (QNA) - Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed dismay Wednesday over the statement issued by the office of the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) pertaining to the latest developments between Somalia and Ethiopia.
Unfortunately, the statement falls short of condemning the Ethiopian government for violating Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity in contravention of the fundamental principles of the United Nations, African Union, IGAD and other international laws, Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The Somali government does not agree with the content of the statement issued by the Executive Secretary of IGAD in favor of the Ethiopian government, the statement read, calling on the Executive Secretary to immediately apologize and withdraw the statement, in addition to taking appropriate measures accordingly.
The statement underscored that the Somali government realizes the importance of regional stability and cooperation and has been permanently active in the efforts dedicated to reinforcing peace and integration within IGAD. (QNA)
