Doha, January 09 (QNA) - Former Qatar national team player Sebastian Soria stressed that the 2023 Asian Cup, to be hosted by Doha from Jan.12 to Feb. 10, will achieve great success at various levels in light of the capabilities of the State of Qatar, which were witnessed by the whole world during the brilliant organization of the 2022 World Cup.

During an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), Soria said that the chances of Qatar's team, the winner of the title in the last edition, are strong, as the base of the team that was a champion is still there, which makes it chances of retaining the title possible, even though the competition will be stronger in light of the development of participating teams.

He added, "playing at home is going to make a big difference, and hopefully the Qatari team can get the second title." Sebastian Soria, who is currently playing for Qatar SC, pointed out that he has great memories of the Asian Cup after participating in the tournament twice, in the 2007 edition in Vietnam and the 2011 edition in Qatar, adding that it was an amazing experience for him.

The former national team player expected Qatar 2023's organizational success to exceed all previous editions of the continental tournament, in light of Qatar's capabilities after organizing the 2022 World Cup as the first country to host the World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world.

He added, "I know that things will be better this time after Qatar hosted the World Cup last year. So the expectations are really high for this tournament." He expressed his confidence that the expectations will be met.

Sebastian Soria scored four goals in the Asian Cup, three of them in the 2007 edition, and one goal in the 2011 tournament. (QNA)
