Doha, January 09 (QNA) - The 2nd Arab Age Group Aquatics Championship is set to start on Wednesday in Doha. The championship, which will continue until Jan. 15, will see the participation of more than 400 male and female players from 17 countries.
The championship is considered a prelude event to assess the readiness of the facilities and work teams of the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024, which will be held for the first time in the Middle East from Feb. 2 to 18.
Taking place in the Aspire Dome as well as Old Doha Port, the 2nd Arab Age Group Aquatics Championship includes three sports: swimming, water polo and open water swimming.
In the Aspire Dome, the swimming competitions will be held from Wednesday to Saturday, while the water polo competitions will start on Thursday and conclude on Saturday as well.
In Old Doha Port, the open water swimming competitions will be held on Sunday and Monday.
The 1st Arab Age Group Aquatics Championship was held in Cairo back in 2022, in which the Qatari swimming team won 18 medals (one gold, six silver and eleven bronze). (QNA)
