Doha, January 11 (QNA) - The local organizing committee for the AFC Asia Cup Qatar 2023 announced the sold-out status for the opening match scheduled for Friday between the host team and the defending champions Qatar and Lebanon in Group A at the 80,000-spectator iconic Lusail Stadium, which hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France.

The committee announced on Thursday that 900,000 tickets have been sold for the tournament's matches, indicating a significant demand for ticket purchases.

The committee organized the ticket sales through three stages in coordination with the Asian Football Confederation, and in the first stage, 150,000 tickets were completely sold out. Among them, 81,000 tickets were sold on the first day alone. In the second batch, 90,000 tickets were sold within 24 hours. Fans from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and India topped the list of those purchasing tickets.

The organizing committee ensured that tickets were accessible to all categories by standardizing prices. The first category tickets were priced at QR 60, the second category at QR 40, and the third category at QR 25.

The prices for tickets to the opening and final matches and the quarterfinals and semifinals were set at QR 250 for the first category, QR 100 for the second category, and QR 30 for the third category. (QNA)
