Doha, January 14 (QNA) - Japanese national football team player, Takumi Minamino said that his country's victory over its Vietnamese counterpart gave his team a great morale boost to win the tournament.

The match took place at Al Thumama Stadium today, whereby Japan won Vietnam 4-2, part of the Group D matches of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.

Minamino, who scored two of Japan's four goals expressed his happiness at his two goals, his country's victory and the meeting of Japanese fans' aspirations.

He added that they faced some technical difficulties on the field during the match due to Vietnam's evident strong performance, whereby they took the advantage and scored two goals.

The Japanese player praised his teammates, stressing that the team's victory is what matters to him and not personal gain such as winning the top scorer title or the tournament's best player.
