Iraq Condemns Missile Attack Targeted Sites in Erbil, Vows to Submit Complaint to Security Council
Baghdad, January 16 (QNA) - Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid on Tuesday strongly condemned the missile attack that targeted the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, considering it a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
The Iraqi president said in a post on X that the attack undermines the security and stability of the country.
President Abdul Latif Rashid emphasized that resolving issues should come through constructive dialogue, not through military attacks that threaten the stability of Iraq and the entire region, which is experiencing tensions that need to be reduced.
Furthermore, Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed in a statement today its strong denunciation and condemnation of the missile attack that targeted sites in the city of Erbil and resulted in civilian casualties.
The statement said that the Iraqi government would take all legal measures, including submitting a complaint to the UN Security Council.
Earlier this morning, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for the missile strike that targeted sites in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Syria.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards explained in a statement, carried by the Iranian news agency (IRNA), that the ballistic missiles were used to destroy espionage centers and gathering of terrorist groups in parts of the region. (QNA)
