Cairo, January 22 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the the Arab League Council extraordinary meeting at the level of Permanent Delegates, to discuss Israeli crimes and schemes against the Palestinian people.

Held under Morocco's current Arab League Council chairmanship and at the request of the State of Palestine, the meeting took place at the Arab League in Cairo.
HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari chaired the State of Qatar delegation.

During His Excellency's speech, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari paid tribute to the government and people of the State of Palestine and its timeless cause in the face of the Israeli occupation's crimes.

His Excellency expressed support for all efforts within legal and counter-criminal frameworks to bring about peace to the sisterly State of Palestine and for the Palestinian people to be granted their right to remain on their land and to be free, as guaranteed by international law.

His Excellency stressed the State of Qatar's firm position on the need to reach a peaceful settlement to the Palestine issue in all of its aspects, on the basis of international law and United Nations (UN) resolutions, whereby an end is put to the Israeli occupation and the two-state solution is materialized, establishing an independence, sovereign, and Self-reliant Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to granting the Palestinian people all of their inalienable rights based on the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League noted that the Palestinian cause has strongly been at the forefront of Qatari policy, adding that Qatar's position is evident through its voting on United Nations resolutions, in addition to the State of Qatar working side by side with the Arab Republic of Egypt on mediation efforts to reach a comprehensive cease-fire, with Qatar continuing to support a political solution base on a number of sisterly, friendly, and peace-loving countries and partners' initiatives, not to mention Qatar's ongoing humanitarian aid delivery efforts.

His Excellency said that the State of Qatar sees reducing tensions as a priority for which it is making a lot of diplomatic efforts together with the various concerned parties.

He added that this stems from Qatar's belief in the justice of the Palestinian cause, which remains a central issue for HH the Amir, the Qatari government, and the Qatari people, based on firm priorities, solid principles, and moral values.

The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League called for Arab unity and expressed support for the draft resolution presented at the meeting regarding countering ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, as well as supporting a follow-up of the resolution's implementation within the relevant committee.

His Excellency counted on Algeria's role, being a new Arab member on the UN Security Council. (QNA)
