Doha, February 12 (QNA) - The organizing committee of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 emphasized that over 700 children participated as flagbearers, player escorts and ball crew in the tournament.

The committee added that a unique opportunity was offered to children nationwide to participate in the celebrations held during the tournament days to be part of the event at the stadiums within the youth program of the local organizing committee.

The youth program initiative garnered a great interest from the Qatari children looking to play a role in this continental event and perform a variety of roles following an accurate selection process several months before the official launch of the tournament.

Commercial Director AFC Asian Cup 2023 Jaham Alkuwari said the youth program initiative offered an incredible opportunity for children in Qatar to be part of the Asian championship and catalyze the successful hosting of the continental event.

"This was a wonderful experience for children. It allowed them to step inside the heart of the stadium and watch first-hand the pulsating action of a match from a unique standpoint. We were keen to offer children a role in contributing towards the success of the Asian Cup, and we hope this initiative inspired them to appreciate the beautiful game even more," Alkuwari said, hoping that the initiative would promote their awareness on its role in deepening positive values in the community.
