Doha, February 21 (QNA) - The College of Business and Economics' Center for Entrepreneurship and Organizational Excellence (CEOE) of Qatar University (QU) organized a Ceremony for the winners of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Excellence Award for Startups in its second edition.
The event, held in collaboration with HyperThink Systems, aimed to acknowledge and encourage innovators and emerging entrepreneurs in Qatar and the region. This edition had 173 applicants both startups and Entrepreneurs competing on 11 categories.
This year's edition of the Award included a wide-range of categories including: Entrepreneur of the Year award, Businesswoman of the Year, Best Startup Company, Best Emerging Company in Financial Technology, Social Entrepreneur of the Year, Best Emerging Company in Educational Technology, Best Emerging Company in Health Technology, E-commerce and Delivery, Green Technology (Regional), Best Emerging Company in Deep Technology (Regional), and Entrepreneurship Case Study Award.
Dean of the College of Business and Economics at QU Prof. Rana Sobh emphasized the university's commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset across the campus and the broader community, highlighting the importance of collaborations with the private and public sectors to promote innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.
Sobh added, "Events like these are crucial for inspiring students and nurturing a culture of innovation, underscoring that the award aims not just to recognize entrepreneurs but to serve as a key part of QU's mission to cultivate an entrepreneurial culture, acting as a catalyst for students to pursue their aspirations and embrace innovation and entrepreneurship."
In turn, Head of Community Engagement and Case Study Unit at the CEOE Dr. Mohammed El Gammal emphasized the importance of collaboration with stakeholders, such as investors and private companies, in addition to the significance of such events in encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation in various sectors in service of the Qatari community The Award aims to acknowledge and encourage innovators and emerging entrepreneurs from Qatar and the region, as well as QU faculty and students.
