Doha, February 24 (QNA) - The eighth edition of the Mahaseel Festival will begin Sunday. Organized by the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and the Qatari Farmers Forum, the festival will continue until April 15, 2024.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Mahaseel Festival Salman Al Nuaimi said that the launch of the eighth edition is in conjunction with Katara's hosting of the Halal Qatar Festival, explaining that Mahaseel provides a distinguished marketing platform in which the finest Qatari crops and agricultural products are displayed, including vegetables, honey, local dates, meat, eggs, birds and poultry. They are displayed from 9 am to 9 pm.

He explained that the new edition will see a growing participation by Qatari farms and apiaries and national food companies. It attracts about 24 local farms and 8 nurseries that sell ornamental plants and flower seedlings, in addition to 10 national companies specialized in foodstuffs, poultry, meat, dairy, eggs and juices.

Mahaseel Festival represents a qualitative leap in support of the national economy and the agricultural sector in the State of Qatar and creates an incentive to encourage investment in the crop and food products sector, he said, adding that it provides a marketing platform for selling vegetables, honey and dates that Qatar is famous for at encouraging prices, in addition to forming a promotional and educational platform to introduce the agricultural production of the State of Qatar and the food industries associated with it. It contributes to spreading the culture of quality and mastery and its application in the field of agricultural crops and livestock, as a strategic option in improving the level of production, he added, appreciating the important role that the festival plays in providing distinguished services to producers, consumers and all segments of society.

Al Nuaimi pointed out that the eighth edition of the Mahaseel Festival includes a group of accompanying activities and distinguished cultural events that raise awareness about the importance of paying attention to agricultural and food production and livestock, in addition to its contribution to supporting productive families by showcasing traditional popular foods, products and handicrafts.
