QFA Announces National Team Captain Hassan Al Haydos' Retirement from International Play
Doha, March 16 (QNA) - Qatari national football team captain Hassan Al Haydos has announced retirement from international play, following a remarkable career filled with numerous achievements.
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) expressed its gratitude to Hassan Al Haydos for his invaluable contributions to the national team throughout his illustrious 16-year career.
"We thank the leader 'Hassan Al Haydos' for his illustrious career with Al Annabi following his decision to retire from international play," QFA said in a post social media platform X.
"Words fail to thank you for all the past years, the leader on and off the field - 'Hassan Al Haydos'. You will be always in our hearts," it added.
Al Haydos joined the Qatari national team in 2008, earning the title of QFA Best Promising Player. He was also named the 2015 Best Player of the Year as part of the annual awards presented by the association.
During his journey with the Qatari national team, Al Haydos played 183 international matches, scoring 41 goals. He participated in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, marking Qatar's debut appearance in the tournament.
Al Haydos also took part in four AFC Asian Cup tournaments: Qatar 2011, Australia 2015, UAE 2019, and Qatar 2023.
Al Haydos won the 2014 Gulf Cup and the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the UAE, which was Qatar's first title, and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar, when he and his teammates secured their second victory. (QNA)
