Google Unveils Feature of Detecting Unknown Numbers within Phone App
Washington, April 06 (QNA) - Google has revealed a new feature called "Lookup" for Pixel users worldwide. This functionality, originally introduced in Japan, allows users to easily search for unknown phone numbers directly within the app.
When a user taps on an unknown number in the "Recents" tab, a "Lookup" button will appear alongside existing options like "Add Contact" and "Message." Selecting "Lookup" will trigger a web search intent using the Google Search app, aiming to identify the caller.
The primary purpose of "Lookup" isn't to replace established caller ID services like Truecaller. Instead, it serves as a complementary tool, offering users a way to quickly search for information about unknown callers. There's speculation about potential future integrations between "Lookup" and existing caller ID apps, said Google. (QNA)
