Annual Conference of Arab Federation of Capital Markets 2024 Concludes
Doha, April 30 (QNA) - The annual conference of the Arab Federation of Capital Markets (AFCM) concluded today its proceedings in Doha, with the participation of around 250 delegates representing members of Arab stock exchanges, accredited brokerage firms, settlement and clearing companies, asset management institutions, governmental financial bodies, central banks, investment banks, regulatory authorities, financial market data providers, regional federations, and research centers.
During the two-day conference, several dialogue sessions were held, presenting numerous working papers on key topics related to the securities industry. These included the role of capital markets in implementing financial sector strategies, digital transformation in the era of data and artificial intelligence, national visions towards sustainable regional economies, shortening settlement periods in Arab financial markets, international developments in investor relations, Islamic finance in the age of financial technology, international sustainability standards, digital assets, and the status of precious metals in investment portfolios.
Preceding these sessions was a general assembly meeting during which the presidency of the federation transitioned from the Muscat Securities Market to the Qatar Stock Exchange. Acting Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Stock Exchange Abdulaziz Nasser Al Emadi, assumed the presidency of the federation for the current term from Chief Executive Officer of the Muscat Securities Market Hatim bin Salem Al Salami.
