National Planning Council Highlights Key Statistical Changes in the State During March

Doha, May 28 (QNA) - The National Planning Council has issued the 123rd edition of the "Qatar Monthly Statistics" bulletin, focusing on the major statistical changes that took place in the state during March 2024.

The bulletin also includes excerpts from the results of the 2020 Census.

One of the most notable changes in this issue is the decrease in total number of new driver's licenses at a monthly rate of 11.7 percent, while the total number of new vehicles registered increased by 8.4 percent (compared to February 2024).

Further, this month witnessed an increase in total deposits at a monthly rate of 0.2 percent (compared to February 2024), compared to a drop in total credit facilities by 0.2 percent (compared to February 2024).

The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 3.005 million in March 2023 to 3.120 million in March 2024 at an annual increase rate of change of 3.8 percent, and decreased monthly by 0.3 percent (compared to February 2024).

Regarding Vital Statistics, 2499 live births have been registered during March 2024. Also, a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 14.9 percent compared to last month. On the other hand, 228 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 10.7 percent compared to February 2024.

Moreover, March 2024 witnessed a monthly decrease of 26.7 percent, and 11.5 percent of total marriage contracts and total divorce certificates respectively. The total number of marriage contracts reached 322 marriage contracts, while the total number of divorce certificates reached 139 cases.

As for the Social Security statements, reached QR 77 Million in March 2024, for 14373 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 0.4 percent for the value of social security and a monthly decrease of 0.1 percent for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.

As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about QR 742 Billion during March 2024, an annual increase of 5.4 percent compared with March 2023. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for QR 1031 Billion during March 2024.

The figure has recorded an annual increase of 6.6 percent compared to March 2023, when deposits recorded approximately QR 967 Billion.

Regarding the data of building permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 747 permits during March 2024, recording a monthly increase of 8.4 percent and an annual increase of 12.2 percent.

The total number of registered new vehicles during March 2024 has reached 7835 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 8.4 percent and it showed an annual increase of 10.5 percent.

Traffic accident cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 804 traffic cases were recorded during March 2024, showing a monthly increase of 6.6 percent and an annual decrease of 0.2 percent. Light injuries accounted for most traffic accident cases during the same month, with 91 percent, followed by severe injuries by 7 percent. However, 13 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2 percent of total traffic accident cases.

As for tourism, the total number of inbound visitors reached about 329 thousand, recording a monthly decrease of 44.8 percent (compared to February 2024) and an annual decrease of 24.0 percent (compared to March 2023).

The highest number of visitors was from Europe at 35 percent. As for visitors by type of port, the visitors via Air make up the highest percentage with 60 percent of the total number of visitors.
