Doha, June 29 (QNA) - The Qatar Media Corporation won three awards at the conclusion of the 24th Arab Radio and Television Festival, held in Tunis, Tunisia over four days under the slogan "Support for Palestine." Qatar TV won the first prize for the documentary film "Museums in Qatar," which showcased the distinctive museums of Qatar. It also secured the second prize for Program Exchanges of 2023, within the festival's Arab Radio and Television competition in Tunisia. Additionally, Qatar Radio won the second prize in the "Notable Arab Figures" category.
The festival was attended by representatives from member organizations of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, specialists in directing, production, and program preparation, as well as representatives from private Arab production companies and Arab and international news agencies.
The winners were honored at the closing ceremony, which featured the "Spirit of the Arabs" performance by the Arab Symphony Orchestra at the Tunis Opera House, with participation from artists and musicians from 11 Arab countries, led by Egyptian maestro George Kolta.
The event included seminars supporting the Palestinian cause, such as one titled "The War on Media: Palestine as an Example," highlighting the role of Palestinian and Arab media in exposing Israeli atrocities despite efforts at misinformation.
The festival, organized in cooperation with the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, Tunisian Television and Radio organizations, and the Arab Satellite Communications Organization, honored several Arab media personalities and featured 147 entries in its competitions - 108 in the main competition and 39 in the parallel competition.
The annual festival aims to enhance and elevate the level of Arab radio and television production to meet the aspirations of its member organizations and their principles. It also seeks to identify and encourage innovative and serious trends in Arab radio and television production, fostering Arab creative talents in this field. (QNA)
