Beijing, July 02 (QNA) - TikTok's video-sharing platform is preparing to launch a new smart assistant called 'Genie', based on a recent filing in the US.

Genie enables users to pose questions in-stream, and get immediate responses, among other functions.

TikTok will make its intelligent assistant able to carry out many complex tasks such as "simulating conversations, facilitating interaction and communication between humans and artificial intelligence, and producing texts and words that resemble human speech.

One of the advantages that TikTok's new smart assistant will offer is an AI search, a feature available in Douyin app, the Chinese version of TikTok, as the upcoming AI features will also allow the ability to create user-specific virtual characters that can live stream in the app.

Through "Genie", TikTok aims to transform its platform into a large AI-based hub; The smart assistant will connect users to various elements of the app.

It should be noted that TikTok has been developing its own smart assistant for a while; Users in the Philippines obtained a smart assistant called "Taco" in May last year, but it was designed only to direct users to other videos within the app, not to answer more complex queries.

The platform may also provide its "StreamVoice" system, which can simulate people's voices based on only a few spoken words, while the platform also develops other tools to create audio clips and videos from text claims.
