Algiers, July 25 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale struck Chlef Province, western Algeria, with no death or material damage recorded.

The Algerian Center of Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics said in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake is about 3 km west of El Hadjadj in Chlef Province.

From time to time, Algeria is exposed to earthquakes, the most violent of which was the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Boumerdes in May 2003 that killed 2,277 people and caused great material losses and destruction in the area. (QNA)
