Port Sudan, July 30 (QNA) - The Sudanese government has confirmed its readiness to engage in any negotiations to reach a ceasefire, end the bloodsheds and safeguard the dignity of the Sudanese people. Additionally, the Sudanese government stressed that it would cooperate with any entity that seeks to end the military operations and lift the siege imposed on cities, as well as open the humanitarian corridors.
In a statement responding to the United States' invitation to hold the Sudanese peace talks in Geneva, the Sudanese government called for convening a meeting with the US side, in order to have good preparations for the peace negotiations, to achieve the gain the Sudanese people have been anticipating form these negotiations.
The statement stressed the importance of a prior consultation with the Sudanese government on the form and agenda of any negotiations, along with the parties who would either participate, or attend them, with the confirmation of making Jeddah Platform negotiations and their resulting deal the groundwork for any negotiations.
Any negotiations prior to implementing Jeddah Declaration that underlines the importance of commitment to protecting the lives of civilians and forging a ceasefire, will never be acceptable for the Sudanese people, who are being displaced and killed, the statement pointed out.
Last week, the United States of America called on the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to engage in ceasefire talks with a US mediation, that will start on Aug.14 in Switzerland, pointing out that regional parties and international organizations will participate in these talks.
The talks primarily aim to achieve ceasefire and stop violence across Sudan, in addition to allowing the access of humanitarian aid to all needy people and setting robust surveillance mechanisms to ensure implementation of any deal. (QNA)
