Paris, August 02 (QNA) - Qatari sprinter Shad Mohamed concluded her participation in the women's 100-meter freestyle event at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics today. She finished seventh, marking her debut in the Olympics. Shad Mohamed recorded a time of 12.53 seconds.
The Qatari sprinter expressed her immense joy in experiencing her first Olympic appearance, adding that she gained significant experience and managed to achieve a good time. She also said that she is determined to return stronger for future competitions.
In a statement following the conclusion of the 100-meter freestyle preliminaries, Shad Mohamed noted that she faced excellent and very strong competitors. She plans to prepare herself thoroughly for upcoming events and aims to achieve better times.
Mohamed, who participated alongside Olympic champion Mutaz Essa Barshim in carrying the Qatari flag during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, has previously achieved many good results, which earned her a spot in the Olympics for the first time.
The Qatari athletics team has a notable presence in this Olympic participation with eight athletes, led by world champion Mutaz Barshim. Barshim has previously won a silver medal at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics, and a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He aims to retain his Olympic gold in what could be his final appearance at the Games. (QNA)
