Ottawa, September 19 (QNA) - The State of Qatar and Canada have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on development cooperation, and a framework agreement on global education and development cooperation, on the sidelines of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's visit to Canada.

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater signed the MoU with HE Minister of International Development of Canada Ahmed Hussen, while CEO of Education Above All Foundation (EAA), Fahad bin Hamad Al Sulaiti sealed the framework agreement with HE Deputy Minister of International Development, Christopher MacLennan.

The MoU focuses on boosting joint foreign aid policies, economic and social empowerment, and poverty reduction, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The framework agreement between the EAA and Global Affairs Canada aims to identify areas of joint development cooperation to reach youth and children through education and employment, while empowering youth, enhancing their skills and providing job opportunities to develop human and economic development in communities.

The $95 million joint agreement between the two countries seeks to bolster youth employment and empowerment over a period of five years, with the EAA pledging $40 million to various initiatives.

Under this framework agreement, various initiatives were announced, including UNICEFs Generation Unlimited initiative. (QNA)
