Doha, October 31 (QNA) - The Museum of Islamic Art, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is organizing an art exhibition, running from Nov. 1 to 7.
The exhibition features over 26 artworks created by young patients from the Childrens Cancer Hospital in Egypt. This initiative celebrates the therapeutic power of art in healthcare and highlights the deep cultural connections between Qatar and Egypt.
Thanks to support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the young artists will have the opportunity to come to Qatar to showcase their creations to an international audience.
The exhibition presents a touching collection of paintings and drawings that reflect the creativity and resilience of children undergoing cancer treatment. These artworks tell stories filled with hope, courage, and rich imagination, underscoring the impactful role of art in supporting the healing journey.
This initiative reaffirms the Museum of Islamic Art's commitment to promoting cultural dialogue and recognizing the significance of art in enhancing mental well-being, emphasizing the role of art in building bridges of understanding and fostering cooperation.
HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah Rashid Al Khater, said on this occasion that art brings comfort and peace and nurtures a sense of connection, which can truly make a difference in peoples lives. Her Excellency added that her visit to Egypt's 57357 Cancer Hospital last year was deeply inspiring as she witnessed how they combine care and creativity. Her Excellency said that, in Qatar, this event represents an additional step toward strengthening brotherly ties with Egypt in all humanitarian and artistic dimensions, beyond just political and economic aspects.
Deputy Director of the Museum of Islamic Art for Education and Community Awareness Salem Al Aswad remarked said that the museum was proud to present the exhibition, which not only showcases the exceptional talents of these young artists but also highlights the healing power of creative expression. He said that, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the museum established an international platform that allows these children to express their voices and share their stories.
He expressed hope that the exhibition would inspire visitors to reflect on the importance of art in healthcare, as well as the value of cultural exchange.
Alongside the exhibition, workshops and interactive activities will be held for visiting children, focusing on art therapy and creative expression. These sessions provide a supportive environment for children to explore their artistic skills, helping them to express their experiences and emotions through creative means.
