Doha, November 03 (QNA) - The 6th Ras Laffan Falconry Championship 2024 organized by the Qatari Society of Al Gannas (AGQS) is set to kick off from Nov.6-13, 2024.

Director of AGQS's championships and Chairman of the Marmi Festival Committees, Miteb Mubarak Al Qahtani, stated that the event is one of the most significant championships organized by AGQS. He added that the competitions will take place at Marami Sealine (the Talaa Championship) and the AGQS field in Ras Laffan (the competitions for Al Daw, the promising falconer, and the young falconer).

The championship will kick off on the first day with Tal'a competitions for groups 1 to 7 starting at 5 am. The qualifying rounds for the Tal'a championship for groups 8 to 14 will be held the following day, alongside the competition for Al Daw in the free chick category, beginning at 6:00 am, Al Qahtani highlighted.

He added that the Tal'a championship competitions for groups 15 to 21 and the Al Daw competitions for peregrine falcon chicks will be held next Friday, while Saturday will be packed with competitions, featuring the Tal'a championship for groups 22 to 27 and the Al Daw competitions for peregrine falcon chicks, with future falconers entering the competition field starting at 1:00 pm to compete in young and promising falconers' category.

Al Qahtani highlighted that registration will take place at the venue of the championship to facilitate participation for young and promising falconers, emphasizing that the competition for promising falconers will consist of two rounds. Additionally, the young falconer competition will assess general knowledge about falcons and their parts, as well as tools related to falconry.

He clarified that from each category, 10 falcons would qualify for the final race on the last day of the championship, totaling 60 qualified falcons divided into 6 groups based on category. He encouraged all participants to ensure their punctuality when attending the championship, adhering to the rules specified by the organizing committee.

Al Qahtani affirmed that several encouraging prizes have been allocated for the winners of the championship.

For his part, Deputy Director of AGQS's championships and Marmi Festival, Abdul Wahab bin Omair Al Nuaimi, confirmed that AGQS always strives to serve Qatari falconers and enhance their performances to prepare them for all competitions and tournaments. (QNA)
