San Jose, November 18 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Costa Rica Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Dosari highlighted the evolving relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Costa Rica since HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani's visit to San Jose in 2010.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE the Ambassador said the relations between Qatar and Costa Rica has been growing and developing since HH the Father Amir's visit to Costa Rica on Jan. 26, 2010 and his meeting with former President Dr. Oscar Arias, which forged bilateral ties and cooperation in all international forums. In the wake of the visit, the Embassy of Costa Rica opened in Doha in 2010, followed by opening the Embassy of Qatar in San Jose in 2011.

On HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's upcoming visit to Costa Rica, HE the Ambassador said HH the Amir's visit would be the second by an Arab or Gulf leader, following that of HH the Father Amir.

His Excellency noted that the visit comes at the invitation of HE President of the Republic of Costa Rica Rodrigo Chaves Robles, and will focus on elevating the bilateral relations to the level that both countries' leaderships aspire to.

The visit will also address regional and international issues of joint interest, and give impetus to the bilateral relations across all spheres, mainly in investment, economy and trade, His Excellency added.
On the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, His Excellency explained that the ACE Award is held in a different country each year. Uzbekistan hosted the Award last year, and it was previously hosted by Qatar.

The ACE Award is international and is supported by the United Nations. Costa Rica was selected by the Award Board of Trustees based on the United Nations anti-corruption indicators, HE the Ambassador indicated.

Costa Rica is among the countries leading in the fight against corruption in the region, having enacted laws and imposed strict penalties to combat corruption that qualified it to host the ACE Award this year, His Excellency added.

HE the Ambassador said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Costa Rica Rodrigo Chaves Robles will witness the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding during the visit.

Talks during the visit will touch on other topics related to cooperation in the fields of investment, economy and trade exchange, he added.

The visit will contribute significantly to developing the relations between Qatar and Costa Rica across all fields, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Costa Rica Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Dosari concluded. (QNA)
