QU Launches TEDx Events Under Theme on Innovation, Sustainability, Developing Earth

Doha, November 26 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) launched the events of its independent TEDxQatarUniversity, under the umbrella of the global TED platform, with 'Developing the Earth: Innovation and Continuity' as its theme for 2024, in the presence of several QU officials and other interested parties.

TEDxQatarUniversity generally reflects the core values of the global TED platform, which lies in spreading inspiring ideas and stimulating meaningful discussions that contribute to achieving positive change. This version of TEDxQatarUniversity will focus on critical issues related to sustainability and innovation, highlighting ways in which we can build a better future for the generations to come.

On this occasion, Associate Vice President for Student Life and Services Office at QU, Dr. Mohammad Shahin Al Kuwari, said in a statement that, such initiatives enhance students' self-confidence and contribute to preparing them to be effective leaders in their communities and their professional and personal future.

Dr. Al Kuwari stressed the importance of the TEDx events in enriching the students' experience and developing their skills, indicating that TEDx represents an opportunity for students to develop their skills on multiple levels, such as critical thinking, effective communication and creativity.

For his part, Section Head of Student Organizations at QU and license holder of TEDxQatarUniversity, Yaser Al Qwasmi, pointed out that these events reflect the university's commitment to providing a platform that stimulates minds and inspires individuals, adding that creativity and innovation come together to achieve a sustainable vision for developing the Earth.

This version of TEDxQatarUniversity includes three main speaking sessions presented by speakers from diverse fields including technology, arts, social sciences and sustainability, as well as interactive presentations, innovative exhibitions, networking and relationship-building activities.
