Doha, December 10 (QNA) - The Cultural Village Foundation -- Katara will hold on Thursday a celebration, featuring a diverse range of cultural and artistic activities that reflect its role in promoting heritage and arts and fostering communication between peoples, marking its 14th anniversary.

The events will include a series of exhibitions spread across the cultural village, such as the "Cultural Tales" exhibition in Building 18 Hall 1, the "Architecture of the Future" exhibition by artist Mohannad Barakat in Hall 2 of Building 18, and the "Katara Posts" exhibition in Building 22.

Additionally, the Katara Moto Art event will feature approximately 300 cars distributed throughout the cultural village, on which artists will paint, creating a unique artistic atmosphere.

There will also be a tent by the Qatari Society of Al Gannas and Al Galayel, offering insights into authentic Qatari culture, making it one of the standout activities of the celebration.
The celebration activities will be divided into two periods: the first from 10 AM to 12 PM, and the second from 4 PM to 8 PM.

The event will conclude with a ceremony at the Opera House, where Katara will honor the institutions within the village by distributing various shields and awards, including the "Heritage Shield," "Arabic Shield," "Writer's Shield," "Drama Award," and "Authentic Art Award," in recognition of their efforts in promoting cultural and artistic movements.

Katara reaffirmed its position as a leading cultural platform in the region and a meeting point for cultures, continuing its role in promoting Qatari heritage and fostering communication between peoples through its diverse cultural and artistic events.

Katara is one of the most important cultural hubs in Qatar, with its cultural infrastructure and facilities aimed at enhancing the cultural movement, encouraging and highlighting creative talents, and promoting cultural awareness through festivals, exhibitions, seminars, and other cultural activities, making it a gathering place for creators and intellectuals.

Katara's events, blending the beauty of the past with the promise of the future, have attracted audiences from various nationalities eager to learn about world cultures through its theaters, music halls, exhibition spaces, and other advanced facilities, making it a leader in diverse cultural activities.

Katara is the first and oldest name used to refer to the Qatari peninsula in historical and geographical maps since 150 AD, first appearing in the maps of Claudius Ptolemy in 150 AD, which were issued in 882 AH - 1477 AD, and later in the Historical Atlas of Islam, where maps identified the peoples of the Arabian Peninsula in the mid-2nd century AD and located Qatar geographically under the name "Catara" southwest of the city of Gerrha, west of the city of Kadara.

In this context, the Katara Cultural Village Foundation decided to revive Qatar's ancient name to support the bonds that connect people to their historical roots and to honor Qatar's important and distinguished position since the dawn of history. (QNA)
