Doha, November 24 (QNA) - The President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, has expressed his disapproval of the unjust campaigns against the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
This came in response to journalists' questions in Doha about the smear campaigns that Qatar has been subjected to since it deserved to host the World Cup tournament.
Concerning the historic victory of the Saudi team over Argentina, the AFC President said that what the Saudi team presented against Argentina is an honorable thing, adding, that the Saudi team made a beautiful surprise, and we want to see the team in the round of 16.
The AFC President stressed that Asian football is strong, referring in a related context to the victory of the Japanese team against its German counterpart.
The Saudi team achieved the first surprise of the tournament by defeating Argentina 2-1, at Lusail Stadium, in the first round of the group stage, in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. (QNA)
