Doha, June 07 (QNA) - President of University of Doha for Science and Technology Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi stressed that the graduation of the first class of distinguished students from the university today is an occasion to be proud of.
He said during his speech at the graduation ceremony that the University of Doha for Science and Technology was established with Amiri decision no. 13 of 2022 issued by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, cementing the university status as the country's first national applied university. He added that the university is looking to use 20 years of expertise in the field of education to develop the skills of its students, as the country looks towards sustainability in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
He pointed out that the carefully developed and implemented strategies, in cooperation with various official and private leading authorities, resulted in the launch of pioneering projects in various fields, including new programs that simulate the needs of the labor market, bringing the number of what the university offers to 62 programs, including 8 programs that are unique. The Doha University of Science and Technology includes banking and financial technology, data science and artificial intelligence, respiratory therapy, medical radiography, digital communication and media production, engineering in electric power and renewable energy, construction engineering, and automation and control systems.
He pointed out that Doha University of Science and Technology is proud to have more than 7,000 graduates, who contribute to serving the State of Qatar locally and globally, and is proud to host more than 5,000 students pursuing their studies in the various educational programs offered.
He indicated that the university offers 62 applied academic programs that prepare students to lead future professions in the fields of technological engineering, business administration, computing, information technology, and health sciences, as well as its success in achieving a number of achievements in record time, as it enhanced its research capabilities and increased the number of research it published. He also said that the university received the Platinum Award from the International Federation of University Games as the best healthy campus. He said that it is a matter of pride that it is the first from the Middle East and North Africa to win this award in. The university will also host the Swiss national team to train on its campus during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The first graduation ceremony of Doha University of Science and Technology, after its transformation from a college to a university, witnessed the graduation of the first class of the Applied Master's Degree in Diabetes Care and Patient Education. Graduates from the College of Business Administration were distributed as follows: 115 male and female graduates, 39 in the College of Computing and Information Technology, 245 in the College of Engineering Technology and 78 in the College of Health Sciences.
